Leonardo da Vinci, Art in Medicine and the Power of Observation

Last Saturday I had the privilege of participating in "Art in Medicine," the international symposium in Florence dedicated to the dialogue between art, medicine, and humanity. It was a valuable experience that vividly reminded me of a fundamental theme: the value of observation.

In a time that constantly pushes us to achieve peak performance, consciously pausing and reflecting becomes an almost rare, yet essential, gesture. During the conference, it became clear how important observation skills, creativity, and empathy are not only for art, but also for our lives in the world and our relationships with others.

Leonardo as a worldview

It is precisely from this perspective that Leonardo da Vinci's thinking proves to be extraordinarily relevant even today. Leonardo was not only an artist, but also a tireless observer of reality who combined art and science, intuition and method, curiosity and precision in a unique and still profoundly inspiring vision.

His gaze didn't simply record what he saw: he sought to understand it, to perceive it, to reproduce it in a new form. This attitude makes him a vibrant and indispensable figure to this day.

Villa Sofia as a place of discovery

The meeting in Florence reinforced a conviction that I feel increasingly drawn to on my journey at Villa Sofia: to create a place where art is not just an aesthetic presence, but an opportunity for discovery, well-being, and encounter.

A place where slowing down, observing, and rediscovering the joy of creation can become part of an authentic and meaningful experience.

The art retreats

This vision also inspires the art retreats at Villa Sofia, which are aimed at all those who want to take time to paint, observe more attentively, and develop a freer and deeper relationship with creativity. Not as a performance, but as an exercise in listening, presence, and sensitivity.

If this way of experiencing art and beauty appeals to you, discover the art retreats of Villa Sofia and let yourself be inspired by an experience of slowness, creativity and conscious observation.
